THE CONGREGATION OF HOLY GHOST FATHERS (SPIRITANS)

The first members of the Congregation arrived in Bagamoyo in 1868. The year 2018 is exactly one hundred and fifty years since these great missionaries arrived in Bagamoyo. It is safe to mention that this year is a great Jubilee of 150 years of formal education in Tanzania.  The Province of Tanzania is a local branch of the worldwide Congregation of the Holy Ghost which was founded in 1703. By providing quality education, the Congregation seeks to promote human dignity, liberation of minds and empowerment of the most abandoned.  Spiritans believe in education as the single most powerful weapon against poverty. It is our belief that good education gives people the skills to improve their lives and it gives them a voice to effectively express their views and concerns of the society.

The registration number of the school is S 1677 and our examination Centre number is S.1601 Tengeru Boys is a boarding school where all students live in two hostels which are attached to the school.  There are more than 500 students and 50 staff members.  Since its establishment the school has shown a very good performance in both academics and in the integral human formation of the children. Apart from academic excellence the school intends to promote an attitude of self – reliance among the learners which will help them be creative, innovative and responsible citizens.

ABOUT HOLY GHOST SECONDARY SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF

Education for the children with disabilities is one of the Missions of the Congregation in which the presence of the deaf children in our school is just a small gesture in the option for the poor. Deaf Children is a group of people which is less considered when it comes to planning for educational and social- economic services in most of our societies. The number of primary and secondary schools for the deaf is minimum comparing to the rest of the population. In most of the African society’s children with disabilities are considered a misfortune with the exception of a few who respect and show them love. Our website will provide some awareness about the need to care for the children with disabilities in our Society.
